Let me give you a little history about Comforting Hearts Ministries. We began CHM officially in 1999. We had no real focus but to follow 2 Corinthians 1: 3-4 . We brought comfort to whomever God thought fit to bring into our path. But I felt a strong calling to some sort of prison ministry and I rejected the idea thinking I was somehow better than someone who was in prison. Then I committed a crime and was sentenced to prison. I served 3 years, 2 months and 12 days. During that time I grew a heart for those in prison, I could finally see them as God sees them, hurting people needing a Savior.
Well you know the saying, "Hurt People, hurt people!" So when I left I brought with me 60 names of people I wanted to minister to somehow, in some way. We soon developed our monthly newsletter, The Heart Warmer. We later offered what we call Heart Builder's Bible Correspondence courses.
In God's infinite wisdom He took those original 60 hearts and grew them over the past 6 years into almost 600 hearts, and in hundreds prisons across the country. We serve men and women who have committed every type of sin, and we love them!
